E-book Converter
Not every e-reader reads every format: Kindle, Kobo and Tolino each take their own route. These are wandlio's e-book converters – mainly for bringing older Kindle files and FictionBook into open EPUB.
Conversion happens on our servers in Germany. Your e-book is sent over HTTPS and deleted right after conversion.
All e-book converters
“Browser” means the conversion runs in your browser with no upload – your file stays on your device. “Server” means the file is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our servers in Germany and deleted right after conversion.
Convert to EPUB
EPUB is an open W3C standard read by Kobo, Tolino, Apple Books and Google Play Books, which makes it the target of choice when a book should work on many devices.

Convert from EPUB
EPUB to PDF puts the book on fixed pages, for example for printing. EPUB to MOBI is only needed when a device or app explicitly asks for MOBI.

Which format for which reader?
Check what your device supports first – often no conversion is needed at all.

E-book formats explained
- EPUB
- An open W3C standard, currently EPUB 3.3. Technically a ZIP file containing HTML, CSS and images, so the text can adapt to any screen size.
- MOBI
- Amazon's older Kindle format. Amazon KDP has not accepted MOBI files for reflowable books since 1 August 2021.
- AZW3
- The newer Kindle format; the calibre documentation points out its proper table-of-contents support compared with MOBI.
- FB2
- FictionBook – an e-book format that tools like calibre can read and write. Mainstream readers such as Kobo and Tolino rely on EPUB instead.
Before and after converting
Take a quick look at the result before copying it to your reader: are the table of contents, images, title and author right? Elaborate layouts with tables, footnotes or fixed pages don't always survive a conversion unchanged.
wandlio doesn't currently offer PDF to EPUB – every available route is listed above.
